The name of the line that I have been developing is called “Jack Dandy”. It’s an 18th century saying for a – conceited fellow. I really like the historic connotation, because it brings it to life. Especially, because I want it to have the feeling of a Dandy gentleman. A gentleman who cares how he dresses, cares about the details, knows who he is and what he likes and will go an extra mile to get what he wants and pay an extra dollar for the finer things. Sometimes these types of fellows are considered conceited, but it’s a misconception. At the same time this Jack Dandy is a contemporary humble who prefers a fixed gear bicycle, opposed to a “fancy car”, a plaid shirt, opposed to fine bankers linen, not to say that I don’t want finer cottons. Jack Dandy is someone who is conscious about the environment, conscious about what he puts in his body and on it. Even though Jack Dandy is a lover of the old ways: vintage shoes, old school manners etc. he is definitely a Contemporary man. He likes gadgets, appreciates and is learned about the computer. That’s why the line is incorporating these elements into the clothes. Pockets are comfortable to carry your i-phone in, and/or i-pod. Closures help to secure these gadgets in place when you are biking or in public transportation or just walking around with your friends. The fabrications will also accommodate for physical activity such as walking, biking, getting in and out of the car, motorcycle etc. by adding a bit of stretch to the fabrication of the pants.
